The marriage equality bill sponsored by Governor Martin O'Malley passed the Maryland Senate this afternoon, 25-22, having passed the House of Delegates last week. The bill will now go to the Governor, who has said he will sign it, making Maryland the eighth state to enshrine marriage equality in their laws.
Opponents say they will put the issue on the ballot in November.
