First RIC community in Alabama: Christ Lutheran Church (Prattville, AL)

christ_fbReconcilingWorks is proud to recognize the first Reconciling in Christ (RIC) community in Alabama: Christ Lutheran Church of Prattville!

“We at Christ Lutheran believe that we are called to be a congregation that opens its doors to all, especially those who have been harmed, excluded or marginalized by society or other faith traditions.  We have been openly welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the Prattville, AL area for over three years,” the Rev. Daniel Pharr says. “It is our hope that being added to the Reconciling in Christ roster will encourage other congregations in very conservative areas of our country that change can and will happen when our faith is rooted Christ’s redeeming and reconciling gospel.”

Christ Lutheran Church is active in the Prattville community by providing meals for firefighters, preparing meals to those in need, the elderly, and the homebound, and by their Ladybug Quilter group which creates quilts and tote bags for cancer and dialysis patients in need of comfort.

Their welcome statement reads: “Gathered by the Holy Spirit and baptized into the Good News of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, we share a living, daring trust in God’s abundant love and mercy. Freed from fear, we boldly seek, embrace and include all people regardless of age, race, gender identity or sexual orientation into this community of faith.”

Christ Lutheran worships Sundays at 10:00 a.m. with an adult forum at 9:00 a.m. For more information find them at http://www.clcprattville.org/ or on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/christlutheranchurch.prattville.
