ReconcilingWorks is proud to announce our newest Reconciling in Christ congregation, Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville, Indiana.

“Grace and Peace Lutheran Church is very proud of its diverse congregation.  We truly take the ALL in our mission statement to heart:  “To Proclaim God’s Grace and Share God’s Peace through love and service to ALL.”  That’s why we are so excited to be a Reconciling in Christ church, so that we can publicly proclaim our doors and hearts open to all people.

Our new welcoming statement reads:  “You are welcome at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church, a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA.  Christ is our center and we live in grateful response to God’s love and grace.  We seek to celebrate the image of God in all people, including every race, sex, age, creed, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital and familial status, physical and mental ability, socioeconomic situation and political affiliation.  Please join with us in nurturing meaningful relationships, and sharing our collective gifts in response to the world’s deep hunger for hope, love, grace, justice and peace.”

Grace and Peace Lutheran Church has its origin in 2007 when two congregations, Grace Lutheran Church in inner-city Evansville and Peace Lutheran Church in the church’s current location, came together in a merger to create Grace and Peace Lutheran Church.  Each church has an interesting and unique history and the 2007 merger brought together these two different congregations to create something that is very special!   We are a church very involved in the community.  We are well-known in Evansville for the famous Donut Bank burgers that we serve every year at Evansville’s Fall Festival in October!  We operate a Mission that provides community outreach services at the downtown location on the corner of Gum and Elliott streets.  Our members are actively involved in organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Kairos prison ministry, Tres Dias, and Crysalis.”

It is with great pleasure that ReconcilingWorks welcomes Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Evansville, IN to the RIC community!
