God of justice and mercy,
as we await the coming of Christ,
open our hearts to your liberating love.
Break the chains of fear, oppression, and injustice,
and set all people free to live in dignity and peace.
May your light shine in the darkness,
bringing hope to the hopeless and courage to the weary.
