A new RIC community, Christ Church Lutheran

We are proud to introduce our newest Reconciling in Christ congregation, Christ Church Lutheran, Minneapolis, MN.

The people of Christ Church Lutheran have been doing the work of the Church in the bungalow-filled Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis, MN for over 100 years.

Originally a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Christ Church Lutheran has been a congregation of the ELCA for almost thirty years.

“We are known for our worship-life, which is deeply rooted in our liturgical and musical heritage. Many also find our worship to be engaging, welcoming and warm. We are known for our hospitality. We love a good party,” Christ Church told us. “We are known for the beauty of our building, which was designed by architects Eliel and Eero Saarinen. Christ Church Lutheran is one of a handful National Historical Landmarks in the State of Minnesota, and the only church with that designation.”

“We want to be known for our outreach in our community. We hope, with the prophet Micah, to do justice, to love mercy, and walk humbly with God upon this fragile earth.

We are now pleased to join the ranks of Reconciling in Christ Congregations. For a number of years, we have quietly lived out a welcome to lesbian and gay people in our midst—we are glad now to do this more publicly. We give thanks for the witness of ReconcilingWorks, and for all who work to make known Christ’s radical welcome and mercy.”
