ReconcilingWorks is proud to announce our newest Reconciling in Christ congregation, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Mercer Island, Washington.

The community of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church believes that the Grace of our Lord is infinitely inclusive and that everyone is welcome. They welcome full participation of people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, educational backgrounds, and economic conditions–all who want to join in community to live in Christ and be of service to people.

“The congregational vote on May 18, 2014 affirming our welcome statement was the final step for Holy Trinity Lutheran to become a Reconciling in Christ congregation–a final step that followed 18 months of study and conversation about what it would mean to be an RIC congregation and a first step reminding us to be intentional about how we welcome and include all people in our ministry within and beyond the congregation,” the Rev. Deanna Wildermuth writes. “Holy Trinity’s ministry has included feeding the hungry for over 30 years in providing 48 food bags every month for Emergency Feeding Program of King County. They have partnered with a El Milagro, a village in El Salvador and share in supporting Hamomi, a school in Nairobi. We reach out to the community through Compass Housing Alliance and Lutheran Community Services. Our ministry also includes Sunday School for all ages, events with amazing food and fellowship and worship that is blessed with great music of band, pipe organ and choir.”

On June 7 following the wedding of two men at Holy Trinity a comment exemplified what Holy Trinity hopes to be as a community of faith, “The sanctuary couldn’t contain all the love and joy that was here today.”
