RW Partnering with ELCA’s Truth and Healing Movement

Today we pause to remember and honor the work of the ELCA at the 2025 Churchwide Assembly around the painful legacy of Indian boarding schools.

Together, we acknowledge the deep harm these institutions caused Indigenous children, families, and communities, and we commit ourselves to walking the long road of truth-telling, repentance, and healing.
The Assembly lifted up the voices of Native leaders, shared stories that must not be forgotten, and affirmed the church’s responsibility to stand in solidarity with Indigenous siblings in Christ. This work is part of an ongoing journey—one that calls us to humility, honesty, and a willingness to learn.
May we continue to pray, listen, and act in ways that honor the resilience and wisdom of Native peoples, trusting that God’s Spirit guides us toward justice and reconciliation.
