Help ReconcilingWorks welcome a new Reconciling in Christ (RIC) community:
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Albion, Indiana.
Their welcome statement reads:
“St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Albion, Indiana, expresses an open, inclusive, and Christ-centered invitation to all people, especially those who have felt marginalized or rejected by other religious communities.
- Radical Inclusivity: We welcome people of all races, ethnicities, nationalities, immigration statuses, genders, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, ages, and financial backgrounds
- Affirmation of the Marginalized: We embrace those who have been excluded—such as LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and those questioning their faith.
- Christlike Love and Community: Inspired by Jesus’ example of reaching out to the marginalized, we aim to be a place where everyone can belong, participate, lead, and grow together in faith.
- Shared Spiritual Journey: Our church acknowledges that it doesn’t have all the answers but invites everyone to walk together in faith, worship, service, and fellowship.
- Biblical Foundation: This welcoming stance is rooted in the Biblical and Christlike principles of love, community, and grace. This is our heartfelt proclamation of unconditional welcome and a commitment to live out the inclusive love of Christ.
In addition, we will
- Be open to calling a BIPOC (black, brown, indigenous, person of color) or LGBTQIA+ rostered minister.
- Allow same-sex weddings to be held at St Mark’s
- Make a meaningful, annual contribution to Reconciling Works.
- Commit to actively challenging racist and discriminatory actions, words, policies & proposals, as well as religious teachings that are contrary to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.“
