A Recent RIC Community: American Lutheran Church (Grand Junction, CO)

Help ReconcilingWorks welcome a recent Reconciling in Christ (RIC) community:

American Lutheran Church in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Their welcome statement reads:

“God is kaleidoscopic, dynamic, and infinitely diverse; the ground of being itself. Christ is God. The church is the body of Christ. Therefore, the church must be kaleidoscopic, dynamic and diverse in order to be faithful.

In our effort to reflect and embody the expansive beauty and liberating love of God in the world as the body of Christ, we are committed to celebrating and being shaped by people of holy diversity. We commit particularly to celebrate and be shaped by people of all sexual orientations, races, gender identities and gender expressions, ages, socio-economic statuses, ethnicities, faiths, abilities and disabilities, sizes, and national origins.

We further commit to welcoming and celebrating Black, Indigenous, and People of Color as we strive to create an antiracist community and work toward racial equity in all areas of our life together. This list is not exhaustive and we expect and hope it will expand as the Holy Spirit reveals to us those we have not yet perceived.   All people are welcome here, however not all behaviors and words are welcome at American Lutheran Church. We oppose bigotry, hatred, oppression, and injustice in all its forms and dedicate ourselves and our resources to the ongoing work of God’s liberating love and grace-filled justice for all people. We ask God to help and guide us.
