Reconciling Works

Since 1974, ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation
has advocated for the full welcome, inclusion, and equity of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual/aromantic (LGBTQIA+) Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church, congregations, and community.  

An independent 501(c)3 organization.  

ReconcilingWorks is an independent non-profit organization funded by the generosity of individuals, faith communities, grants, and from curated resources and trainings. ReconcilingWorks does not receive funding from any Lutheran denomination.

ReconcilingWorks advocates for the acceptance, full participation, and liberation of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions within the Lutheran Church.

Our Vision

To keep expanding the welcome, liberating those who are forced to live in the margins. To keep dismantling barriers and building bridges. To keep working until all of God's beloved have equity.

Our Values

We believe that God values and embraces each person as a beloved child, that the Spirit gives a diversity of gifts for the common good, and that Jesus Christ calls us to work for justice.

You are not alone

Supporters of LGBTQIA+ people and families are not the minority in our Lutheran church, but are the growing majority. ReconcilingWorks is committed to deepening and expanding this support, but we cannot do it without people and partners like you.

Transgender day remembrance TDOR 2014

Transgender Day of Remembrance [TDOR] is commemorated on November 20 each year and is the single most important observance on the calendar for trans* people and their communities. On this day we memorialize and celebrate the lives of all trans* people, known and unknown, who have been murdered out of fear and hate during the past year.  TDOR is also an act of resistance, a way to restore dignity, a vigil for justice, an opportunity for trans* people to rise up from isolation and to seek support, and an opportunity to recommit to live our lives with determination and hope.
