Juneteenth

Today, on Juneteenth, we remember, honor, and celebrate the emancipation of enslaved Black people in the United States—and we also recognize that the work of liberation, justice, and equity continues.

At ReconcilingWorks, we know that LGBTQIA+ justice cannot be separated from racial justice. The call to build communities of welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy must also include an active commitment to dismantling racism and advancing racial equity.

Alongside our Reconciling in Christ partners, we recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of anti-racism: listening deeply, telling the truth about history, confronting systems of oppression, amplifying Black voices, and building a Church and world where all people can live fully and freely as God’s beloved.

Juneteenth is both celebration and call—a reminder that freedom delayed is injustice, and that faithful communities are called not simply to remember liberation, but to participate in it.

May we keep doing the work together.
