A Public Witness of Hope

When a Pride flag is torn down or a welcome sign is vandalized, the harm reaches beyond a symbol. These acts seek to undermine belonging, silence public witness, and diminish the dignity of LGBTQIA+ people.

ReconcilingWorks has created a new worship resource, A Public Witness of Hope: A Litany and Prayers for Rehanging a Pride Flag or Re-Dedicating Faith Community Signage, to help faith communities respond with lament, courage, hope, and prayer. Created for Reconciling in Christ Partners and all faith communities, this resource offers liturgies, blessings, and prayers to help communities reaffirm their commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion, racial justice, and God’s expansive love after acts of vandalism or hate.

Our prayer is that your congregation never needs this resource. But if the time comes, may it remind you that you are not alone. Together, we continue to proclaim that God’s love is stronger than fear, hope is stronger than hate, and every person is God’s beloved.
