Coming out is not a single moment. For many, it is a journey of discovery, courage, vulnerability, and becoming. For others, it is a journey that may not feel safe or possible right now.
On this National Coming Out Day, ReconcilingWorks celebrates the beautiful diversity of LGBTQIA+ people and honors the many ways each person chooses to live into their authentic self.
💜 To those who have come out: We celebrate you.
💙 To those who are still discovering who they are: There is no rush. Your journey is your own.
💚 To those who cannot safely come out: You are no less authentic, no less courageous, and no less beloved.
💛 To those who have been met with rejection, especially by the Church: You deserve a faith community that celebrates the fullness of who God created you to be.
And to the families, friends, and faith communities who have been entrusted with someone’s coming-out story: May you respond with tenderness, listen with compassion, and remember that being trusted with someone’s truth is a sacred gift.
You do not have to come out to be worthy of love. You do not have to explain yourself to belong. You are already God’s beloved.
May we continue building a Church where no one has to choose between their faith and their authentic self. A Church where LGBTQIA+ people are not simply welcomed, but fully included, celebrated, and empowered to flourish.
Today and every day, we celebrate the sacred gift of YOU.
