Global advocacy & accompaniment

  • globalReconcilingWorks is developing and piloting a global strategy of organizing partnerships with faith-based advocacy groups, ELCA ministries, relief agencies, and LGBT and allied faith leaders across the globe to end oppression of LGBT people worldwide.
  • Emily Eastwood, Kurt Neumann, and two ReconcilingWorks board members attended the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups in Zug, Switzerland last spring. They also visited the staff of the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva which proved to be extremely fruitful. We’ve received multiple invitations to expand this work.
  • Communications/Legislative Assistant attended the World Council of Churches Assembly in South Korea this fall, where they worked with a coalition of worldwide partners, including Inclusive and Affirming Ministries of South Africa, to facilitate workshops and conversation.   • ReconcilingWorks plans to convene LGBT Lutherans and affirming pastors in South America in 2014.
