LGBTQIA+ Icon: Bayard Rustin

LGBTQIA+ Icon Bayard Rustin (American civil rights activist)

“God does not require us to achieve any of the good tasks that humanity must pursue. What God requires of us is that we do not stop trying.”

” If we desire a society without discrimination, then we must not discriminate against anyone in the process of building this society. If we desire a society that is democratic, then democracy must become a means as well as an end.”

June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) month. This month is a time of celebration, but also recognition of those who have participated in the journey toward equality, justice, and the freedom to love without fear. Each day of this month we will be spotlighting one of the people who has taken a stand in the struggle toward inclusion and acceptance for all.
