In pastoral letters, policy statements, and other forms of witness, Lutheran bishops and other leaders have spoken out in favor of marriage equality and/or against changing state consitutions to prevent marriage eqaulity.

The marriage equality bill sponsored by Governor Martin O’Malley passed the Maryland Senate this afternoon, 25-22, having passed the House of Delegates last week.  The bill will now go to the Governor, who has said he will sign it, making Maryland the eighth state to enshrine marriage equality in their laws.
