ReconcilingWorks is excited to announce that the Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Sunday Worship 2020, Faith and Advocacy resource is brought to you, in partnership with members of the ReconcilingWorks Board of Directors!

This year, Faith and Advocacy is the theme for RIC Sunday 2020. Knowing that God calls us to love and serve ALL of God's Beloveds, it is important that we recognize the ways in which we as the church have turned away from our LGBTQIA+ siblings. We focus this RIC Sunday asking the question, "How do we advocate for our queer siblings and those who are the most vulnerable in the room?" It is a service to set our hearts and eyes to God, asking for grace and forgiveness, leading us to be the advocates in this world, and stand with the oppressed.

We extend our gratitude to those who helped make this resource possible, Board Members Rev. Jason Clifton, Rev. Lauren Muratore, Rev. Lenny Duncan, and Rev. Tuhina Verma Rasche.

Recommended Reading and Continuing the Conversation

To continue the conversation of Reconciling in Christ Sunday, ReconcilingWorks encourages RIC Communities to learn and grow in welcome, inclusion, and celebration of LGBTQIA+ folks by lifting up the diversity in the lives of LGBTQIA+ people, that your community can read together or through individual study:

Dear Church: A Love Letter From a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the US

Part manifesto, part confession, and all love letter, Dear Church offers a bold new vision for the future of Duncan's denomination and the broader mainline Christian community of faith. Dear Church rejects the narrative of church decline and calls everyone--leaders and laity alike--to the front lines of the church's renewal through racial equality and justice.

ELCA Advocacy Resources

ELCA advocacy works for change in public policy based on the experience of Lutheran ministries, programs, and projects around the world and in communities across the United States.  Our faith calls us to learn more and speak out on issues affecting our vulnerable neighbors and the forces threatening creation.
