Their welcome statement reads:
“We – the community of Spirit of Joy! Lutheran Church – believe that God has blessed all of creation with beautiful diversity. This includes the diverse mosaic of the human community, and the profound truth that God created us all in the Divine image. The Prophets called God’s people to protect the most vulnerable, and our Lord Jesus went out of his way to welcome and embrace the marginalized.
We affirm the goodness of God’s creation and celebrate the diverse gifts, talents, and perspectives of God’s children of every race, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, physical ability, economic status, neurology, ethnicity, and background.
Following the Biblical imperative and the example of Jesus, our community is intentionally inclusive, radically welcoming, and seeks to protect the most vulnerable. We are committed to working against any ideology that demeans, belittles, dehumanizes, and denies the divine image in our neighbors – and working for racial equity and justice in our community.
There’s a place for all here – God loves all.“
